Carl Lewis Singing the National Anthem

In case you don’t know, Carl Lewis is an American track and fields Olympic gold medalist who is probably most well known for winning the gold for the 100 m sprint at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics games.

This is a video of the Olympian singing the national anthem a capella at an NBA basketball game. After messing up big time at “the rockets’ red glare,” he stopped and promised the audience that he’ll “make up for it”! However, after dramatically building up to the latest line, he decided to take the it easy and ended the “The Star Spangled Banner” with an anti-climatic finish. :)  It’s pretty hilarious and I’m glad that that he himself seemed to have taken the whole incident well. This was at the New Jersey Nets vs. Chicago Bulls game on January 21st, 1993.

If Carl Lewis were a member of Gracepoint, he would probably be a contributor to Praiseband Bloopers! But okay, enough poking fun at this Olympic athlete. Here are some of Carl Lewis’ athletic achievements: he won 10 medals in track and field at the Olympics games (1984-1996) and set the world records in the 100 m sprint and the 4 x 100 m relay. He still holds the world record in the indoor long jump.

Here’s a shorter clip showing him singing, with the NBA players (including Michael Jordan), some of whom are laughing.

Oh yeah? Well let’s see all those who can sing the Star Spangled Banner run the 100 meters in less than 10 seconds.
